Sash levels. This is an overall ranking system designed to motivate and reward progress within our students. Our higher sash level students are generally more experienced and must exhibit a certain level of competency in a certain set of skills. Students may be promoted by enrolling in periodic sash testing sessions. At these sessions, we invite experienced Wushu athletes/practitioners to evaluate our students. All new students start at Yellow sash.
Class levels. Each class (e.g. Sword) is designated a certain level. The level indicated for each class is the minimum level a student must be to attend the class (e.g. Sword level 2, at least level 2+). Categorical Levels are given to each student within each Wushu class type such as: Longfist, Sword, Staff, Spear etc. This categorical levels system is supplemental to our Sash level and aids in creating a more parsed out ranking system. This is designed mainly to ensure classes are productive and efficient for all students. By attending classes of the appropriate level no student should feel overwhelmed and students will always know what level of difficulty to expect. Criteria for each level will be shared to all enrolled students. There is no formal testing to move on to the next level. Meeting criteria is all that is required. If you or your child feels they have met the next level criteria, just mention it to one of the coaches and we will make sure your current level is updated in our database. Generally speaking, our higher ranked sash levels have higher categorical levels as well.

Class Expectations
1) Uniforms. Students must wear sash, academy uniform and appropriate shoes (Wushu shoes recommended) to each class. Academy uniforms are currently 40$ and there is the option of Blue, Red and Black.
2) Arrive on time. Please arrive to class on time. If you arrive early, take the time to warm up and stretch in the hallways. But please be respectful, and do not disrupt any of the classes.
3) Non-disruptive behavior. Wushu is a hard activity to learn and excel at, and thus an environment of optimal focus is critical for every student's learning and development. In order to ensure disruptions are minimized, we ask all our youth students to always ask for permission before going to the bathroom, drink water, leaving early etc. Courtesy, respect and attention to safety are critical and we will remind everyone daily.
4) Safety. Probably our most important rule. Students must be aware of their surroundings at all times. There will be no tolerance for the inappropriate use of any kind of apparatus. This includes the carpet, weapons, bars and equipment in which students are not allowed to be on without explicit permission. We take safety very seriously and failure to demonstrate mindfulness for safety is grounds for immediate dismissal from class, and a temporary hold on attendance to all weapons classes for a minimum of 2 weeks. Weapons should be held upright (vertically) when walking around. In the setting of large classes students must perform the movements together at the same time, swinging the weapon around while instructions are still being given is an example that violates our safety rules. Please remind your children of these following rules:

Please remind your children of these following rules:
- I will not climb on bars, play on gymnastics equipment that is not meant for practicing Wushu.
- I will always hold my weapon vertically when walking around with the weapon, in order to avoid accidents in which i could cause injury and harm to others and myself.
- Whenever I practice my weapons, I will make sure to look around me to ensure there is no one close to me.
